Overview & Architecture
Running your own artificial intelligence infrastructure doesn't require expensive cloud subscriptions or complex multi-node server clusters. This blueprint guides you through setting up a complete, self-hosted local AI server using Docker Compose to spin up Ollama for backend model serving and Open-WebUI for a ChatGPT-like browser interface.
The Three Core Stack Components
- Docker Compose: The orchestration layer that ties your containerized services together cleanly in a single configuration file.
- Ollama: The lightweight local LLM server handling model execution, weight mounting, and HTTP API endpoints.
- Open-WebUI: A feature-rich, self-hosted web interface providing a clean browser frontend to chat with your local models seamlessly.
